Default Inaccurate fuel guage.

We have a new 2014 CX5 with about 400 miles on it. Still working on it's second tank of gas. After our first refill the gas gauge showed empty and the fuel low warning light turned on at about 3/4 tank. When taken to the dealer of course it was working. They claim to have reseated electrical connectors and said there were no codes. Upon return of the vehicle it took 1 minute or so for the gauge to get to the 1/4 tank reading (really should be 3/4 tank) when no one was sitting in it. It would creep up to 1/2 when someone sat in the drivers seat and go back down when they got out. Dealer saw it happen but is still flummoxed about what could be wrong. Now that we have gotten below a 1/2 tank it appears to be working correctly. I have taken it back again to the dealer for the problem.

If the CX5 was one of my older cars that I am more familiar with mechanically I'd say something is screwy with the float and start there. Not being sure what is in the CX5 I am not sure how hard to push that they pull the tank and replace the float/send unit. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this and if so what might have been done to fix it?

Thanks

This is one I haven't heard before (and I stay pretty much on top of real and potential CX-5 problem areas). However, the most likely culprit would be the float assembly I would thiink!
