Question HD Radio Fades In/Out

I have a 2015 CX5 without the GPS or BOISE option. When moving and using the standard FM radio the signal can sound great, good depth and then it seems to go flat. Is this typical of HD radio? I am not sure where the antenna is located (the top of the front windshield?), but would a better antenna help, is this correctable or just one of the many quirks with HD radio in the CX5?

The antenna is located on the shark fin at the rear of the roof. Although HD stations are few and far between where I live, I have found the feature to be totally worthless and use the radio simply to channel Pandora. BTW, it's BOSE, not BOISE.

The HD signal is less powerful than the analog FM. It sounds good when close

to the station. It can be annoying when listening to an HD2 or HD3 station.

Thank you. That is too bad as when it's close, it sounds great.

No, the sharkfin is only the Sirius antenna. The radio antenna is located elsewhere, around the windshield (I think).

So that's why every CX-5 comes with a shark fin, whether it's got satellite radio or not? I have never seen anything that would indicate that the antenna for the regular radio is located anywhere but in the fin. You're going to have to do better than "around the windshield (I think)" to convince me otherwise.
