Gates Belts
Gates and Good Year then other brands have been the GO-TO and top brands sold in the USA for over 50 years. For poly belt the gator backs are IMHO the most durable and often used to run Supercharger belts. But sadly because of sales were discontinued.
I and we still will sell and use Goodyear as first preference choice for own vehicles and customers vehicles. The second choice is the NAPA brand which are actually manufactured by Gates.

The Goodyear brand V-Belts which included the plants, technology and people were purchased by Continental in 2015. Same exact specification just rebranded because they compete with each other on the tire side.
In the last couple of year's however, Goodyear has licensed the name to a mfg in India. These belts are not the same quality and I wouldn't buy them.

I challenge you to purchase a belt from India and a belt from any of the dozen or more other manufacturing facilities from Goodyear world wide to support your claim. Please post the package the belt and how you tested the belt for quality. We sell hundreds of Good year belts and over the last 10 years likely into the thousand and never have any belt failed on multiple platforms failed because of poor quality. Many authorized distributors of Goodyear brand belt can and would also supply information regarding the quality no matter where they were manufacture. What do you think they pull the belts made from INDIA and exchange them for goodyear belts made in other countries/ LOL I
Basically you are just another person with unsubstantiated prof and with no real empirical data and information to support your "DA" claim. You just IMHO don't like parts made in India. LOL

Callisto, I recently retired from Continental (Formally) Goodyear until February of 2015. I was in sales and marketing for 39 years as an actual employee of the company. PLUS, I have actually been to the Canadian plants (Owen Sound), Mexico and Lincoln Nebraska. I have actually worked in the Lincoln Nebraska plant building the belts and was stationed at their GDC in Lincoln for 8 years when it was open. Further, I interacted with technical production and upper management including the CEO of Goodyear. So I just might have some direct manufacture experience as well as knowledge.
The fact which I simply stated is that in February 2015 our Goodyear Engineered Division was sold to Continental and we then had to rebrand the hoses, conveyor belting, air springs, automotive hoses as well as power transmission products. If you go to our corporate headquarters in Fairlawn Ohio you can verify my name up on a plaque there.
As I stated before in the past several year Goodyear sold the branding right to an India company and they are manufacturing belts under the Goodyear name now. It is NOT the same plants, people or technology. That is a fact. If you still doubt me I suggest you contact Goodyear or Continental directly. I'd be happy to provide you with some names if needed.

I sold and distributed Goodyear belts for almost 4 decades+ I still use primarily Goodyear belts. The Distributuion of goodyear belt's and sold in the us is in the top levels comparing all other brands. The fail rate or claimed defective belts is lower than all other brands. It was just a thread about suggesting what belts to use. You r obvious butt hurt from your former company is no obvious and I hope obvious to others. The evidence in in your quote on Post # 6. Who does that except a person angry with their former "BOSS" lol
My posted information can also be verified by contacting most any Nationwide distributes of Goodyear products.
Merging with other worldwide companies this sound investment and practice has been going on since the mid 80's with well-known and major auto parts and other automotive industry companies to make companies stronger and sustain their existence.
You personally must also have some concern with the people of India making Goodyear belts?

As far as your former boss I am sure your plaque if they knew what you posted here (reply #6) would posily be considered removal. LOL
Look dude.....
. this forum and thread was about Gates usage re-read posts # 1-5. Then you get butthurt when I mentioned both in a positive manor Gates and Goodyear in one response together.
BTW Salsman and marketing rep for a single company vs my credentials in the automotive industry, experience and certifications comparing you a "saleman" ROLMAO ...ROLMAO

Automotive Forums
Another source of information many people use on the internet are automotive forums. There are hundreds of forums dedicated to specific vehicle makes and models as well as more general automotive forums. Forums contain a wealth of information, but also a lot of misinformation and conflicting information.
The typical forum user will post a question in hopes that other forum users will respond and offer an answer or advice on how to solve the problem. But with all forums, there is no guarantee that anyone will respond or that any responses they do receive will be accurate or helpful. It all depends on the other forum members and who posts a response. Many forum users are quite knowledgeable and can provide exactly the kind of answer you are looking for. Other forum users want to be helpful and may venture a guess or offer an opinion that may or may not be accurate or may be totally wrong. In other words, it may be hard to distinguish good advice from bad advice.
Most forums are moderated to delete spam, rants and off-topic posts and comments that don't belong on the forum. But in most instances, the accuracy of the posts and responses is left up to the forum users. There's no editing or vetting or review of the comments that are posted. Consequently, if inaccurate or incorrect responses are posted to a question, other more knowledgeable users may or may not challenge a post or offer additional information.
We've seen many forum responses degenerate into endless bickering between conflicting points of view. We've also seen a lot of posts that totally contradict one another. There's nothing wrong with a good debate provided the people involved know what they are talking about. But unless there is some resolution to the debate, or some serious fact checking involved, the person who posted the original question may be left confused and no closer to finding an answer than when they started.

Per your attached statement and verbiage above this is right off of the Goodyear website:
Goodyear (and Winged Foot Design) and Blimp Design are trademarks of The Goodyear Tire &Rubber Company used under license by Adventry Corp.Copyright 2025 The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
As you can see the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company simply "licenses" the name to the Adventry Corp. This is a fact. The belts are not made in the same plants as they were prior to February of 2015. That was and is my point plain and simple.
