Gas in the pan
I’m new to the forum and could not find a conversation about gas in the oilpan. I understand that with the way Mazda has set up the injectors that it is apparently common to get fuel in the oil. 2016.5 cx5. 2.5litre.
symptoms. Barely starts, stutters sputters backfires out the exhaust and intake, flooding enough that you can’t breathe, no power while driving, stalling anytime the rpm’s are below 1500, intake full of black oily substance, valves covered in crud. Dealer spent 4 hrs diagnosing and aside from a hefty bill said “all 4 coils are shot, all 4 spark plugs are shot, MAF sensor on its way out. They could change everything for $$$$$ but that they could not even guarantee that the motor would run afterwards.
Towed it home, checked the oil and it was double the amount that is supposed to be in there. Drained it and changed filter and new oil. Changed all 4 coil packs and another set of new plugs. I had just put new ones in before taking it to the dealership. Also put in a new MAF sensor. Still does the same thing. I’ve been tinkering on it for a few days. I’m going to say that in 2 days, I’ve had it running approximately 20 minutes to a half hour. Hop in it this morning to try again and the fuel level is a quarter lower than yesterday. Check the oil level and it’s way over full again. I’m at my limit trying to figure this out. And I deeply apologize for the rant. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum
Not sure where your information came form but it is not exactly accurate with any fuel injection system. There is no fuel that is dumped back into the oil sump or engine? Fuel can get into the oil from bad rings, bad cylinder, faulty fuel injectors maybe an intake gasket (really stretching it) or seal in small amounts.
How did you first or how was fuel(excessive) in the engine oil?
I presume you engine was scoped based on some of your comments.
If you had "double" the amount of engine oil, or fluid in the engine you would have cause hydra lock.
What were all the DTC you got because most of the parts replaced should have generated a DTC?
When they did a compression test of the engine did they do a leak down test as well?
What was the F/I tested pressure?
Was the F/I pump cut off tested not working and allowing the fuel pump to continue to operate after the ignition is off?
I could go on but sorry to say whomever and what shop you went to obviously did not have a very experience person working on your MAZDA.

this is the response sent to service providers by Mazda.

I wonder how many of those customers hand me during a year?. My response to them is that you seem to know what is wrong with your vehicle. I have a nice clean bay complete with tools that if you sign the wavier you can do your own service and repair for free. LOL
You are just a pile of help aren’t you. People go to forums to get advice and all you can do is shut them down so obviously you are a Mazda tech and everyone else means nothing. Thanks for your GREAT incompetence in answering a question. Sounds exactly like my dealership. I guess you must all train under the same *******. Thanks for wasting my time. Typical Mazda tech.

You post a generic Service bulletin in my face....which if you read it more or less is the same information explanation worded differently than my first response?
If you are so thin skin and gets your butt hurt with direct answer what can I say....
And no not everybody joins forums just for FREE advice and help... where did you get that idea from???
Good luck with your resolve
oh and no I am not a Mazda Auto tech or mechanic, I am on the Dark (actually Blue) Side so to say
. but there is one on this site maybe he will respond will see after you responded to me this way cant see why he would want to chime in. LOL

It sounds like a the high pressure fuel pump. It is mechanically driven off the rear cam and if the diaphragm between the fuel portion and the drive portion tears, it dumps fuel into the head, which migrates down to the sump. It sounds like a catastrophic failure to dump that much fuel.

In your info there would be a distinct raw gas odor constantly around the car.
