Default Fuel pressure fluctuation at idle

Car stalled a few times when slowing down at a stop light but started right back up. Runs and drives perfect otherwise.
throwing a p0172
no vacuum leaks
I checked fuel pressure and the pressure at idle makes my gauge bouce across the entire face so you can barely see the needle. If I give it any throttle it sits about 65 and doesn't move.
as soon as you let off it goes crazy again.
Fuel pressure regulator or hpfp?

Any help is appreciated!!!

Welcome to the forum
Well as you have seen there are several things that can generate a P0172. But given you information the lead suspect to check out further would be the regulator. If it were the HPFP in most cases, you would not see the psi at throttle as you tested.

Appreciate the help.
I did already check live data and didnt see anything out of spec.
I also cleaned the throttle body and maf. Air filter is good. Etc
I'm going to check it out again tomorrow and will let you know what I find.

Getting codes p013a (bank 1 sensor 2) and still the p0172.
waiting to get live data.
That 02 is past the cat so it shouldn't even matter right?

Looked in live data. Everything seems well within the acceptable range. I'm at a loss unless it really is the regulator.

Realized I made a mistake. Code was original p0171 the lean code!
Cleaned anything and everything that I could. All the grounds and what not.
lean code is gone and car isn't stalling.

But now I have a rich code

Help!

Did you go in and check the monitors?

*Clearing the DTC only removes the DTC from active viewing. Until the problem is resolved it will remain in the ECU and will show a fault in the monitors.

*To add for other reading... this is why disconnecting the battery is a bad way to diagnosis a problem. You have done nothing except to deactivate the check engine light. Unless the original problem is resolved, or the cause based on an anomaly is corrected once you cycle the engine a few times the DTC will return.

Yes I understand this.
I unhooked the battery because of a previous corrosion issue and wanted to go through all the connectors and get everything cleaned.

I've looked through live data several times.
Just now I've noticed something I believe is out of place. The LTFT is showing -20.31 and is not moving at all. Next to it the percentage for bank 1 sensor 2 ltft shows 0% out of -25/25%

What do your monitors indicate? What areas are still in fault?
The Monitors are emission related engine operating area's.
