"Oil Change due" message pops up when I start my 2019 CX-5 GS but when I check the maintenance warnings/schedule, it shows that there is still ~4000 km to go. The message remains until I scroll through the Info menu then it disappears. pic attached.
Someone told me me to "reboot" but other than by disconnecting the battery, I don't know how to reboot or if that's even necessary!
Any thoughts?

Do not reboot
Not being a wiseass here, but if you take the time to read your owner's manual, something many people seem to refuse to do, you will see you can reset (clear) the "oil change due" message. Press the Home button. On the menu, scroll down to the Applications icon and click on it. Under Applications, go to Vehicle Status Monitor. Select Maintenance. Select the Oil or Scheduled option. After selecting, scroll down the menu and select Reset. Next, select Reset again to confirm.
I do (reset) everytime I do an oil change. Did you see the attachment that clearly shows I still have over 4000 km to go to the next oil change while the message on the instrument panel indicates otherwise? Do you see the problem or am I missing something?
Yes, I did read your entire post and looked at both pictures.
It is irrelevant as to how many km/miles you have left if the system is not reset or set-up correctly.
You did not mention in your post that you had ever done an oil change reset or had done it this time.
I would still suggest doing the reset again to make sure you did it correctly.
If you follow the manual instructions correctly and it does not clear the message you will need to seek out advice from the dealer.
I would also point out if you still have the original battery, I recommend a professional load test of it.
The OEM batteries do not last long in the CX-5 and that can cause all sorts of electrical issues.
I want to emphasize the mention about discounting the battery to cure electrical anomalies.
While this was often done to resolve very early PCM (not ECU) issues back in the days of OBD1 and early versions of OBDII on newer vehicle especially the Mazda Skyactiv models from about 2020 to present if you do not understand and know exactly what you are doing you can possibly harm your SRS,ABS,ECU,TCM and other system onboard that rely on the battery 12 volts to keep them constantly monitoring even when you are not in the vehcle.
The method of battery disconnects to reset the system (as it is also unfortunately mis named) should NEVER be done unless it is determined from an experienced Automotive Technician or Mazda (or platform Trained) Trained Technician only!
Not only can you possibly void several aspects of your WARRATY but could damage expensive electronics.
Thanks guys. I made note of the remaining mileages to the next oil change and reset. This cleared the message on the instrument panel but it came back again after I restarted the car. I guess it's a glitch of some sort. Will check withbthe dealer and come back and share the fix.
Regarding the battery, it is the second battery and less than a year old, changed it in October 2023 because the original battery was 5 years old.
@Calisto in order to avoid damaging electronics, is there a special procedure for replacing the battery other than the obvious (disconnect old, connect new)?

Your battery age is likely not what you thought it was only what you either read on the little date sticker or when you purchased it, neither is when the battery was actually made. Another thing that many never do is before you install a newly purchased battery have it load tested FIRST! You would be surprised how many batteries are not in the 100% state of health when newly purchased.
As for the any "cleared" DTC or battery disconnect ....yes the trouble caution light(s) will reactivate as I said if the original problem was not corrected because it remains in the ECU and recycles the fault condition after engine cyling which if not corrected simply activates the dash check engine light. You like most do nothing at all from "clearing" (turning off the dash light) without finding the original cause and or correcting what caused it.
On some engines you must perform oil data reset after oil change.
Engine oil data reset procedure
1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off) and switch the display using the panel light control switch/tripmeter switch to display the odometer.
Caution• The tripmeter and average fuel economy are reset when the following procedures are performed with tripmeter A or B displayed.
2. Switch the ignition OFF (LOCK).
3. Press and hold the panel light control switch/tripmeter switch with the ignition switched off, then switch the ignition ON (engine off).
― Keep pressing the panel light control switch/tripmeter switch for more than 7 s.
This is not the same data as in the maintenance menu/reminder.
