Default factory warranty length

Hey all, just bought a 2017 CX-5 with 43,000 miles. Seems the different salesmen I've talked to and one Service Dept have different answers on what the factory warranty is. I saw on one car ad it said a CX-5 still had remainder of 7yr/70,000 mile powertrain warranty. A service advisor at another dealership confirmed this. A salesman told me when looking at this car that everything was expired. A different salesman on a different day at same dealership told me it had remainder of factory 5yr/60,000 mile powertrain warranty. I'm a detail person and had these folks clarify their answers.
What does my car have for factory warranty from Mazda?

Thanks. So my used car I just bought with 43,000
miles still has some of the 5yr/60,000 warranty left or does that only apply to new cars?
If it does transfer to my car is it automatically covered or did I have to transfer it somehow when I bought the car from the Mazda dealer?

It will follow the car. Nothing for you to do. They have an in service date for the car which will mark the 5yr start and the mileage is what it is. I seriously doubt you will ever have to use it, but nice to have it for some peace of mind.

You consider yourself a 'detail person'?

Did you find any details on the warranty in your owner's manual?

The person to talk to is and introduce yourself to the service and sales manager at the dealership that you will be using. While as posted the warranty seems to be simple it is not! In the legal sence you may think something "you" determined on your used vehicle is covered it is better to have some starting good repport with a dealership because most of the time they are the ones to get warranty issues resolved quickly. Otherwise you need to wait for corp MAZDA and possibly an area rep to determine what will be covered for your used vehicle.
You may also consider looking into an independent vehicle warranty coverage for your used vehicle as a prudent investment!

As stated earlier, you do have the 5yr/60,000 mile powertrain warranty. The 3 year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired in your case. You might want to ask if you can purchase an extension for the bumper-to-bumper warranty since with all the complex electronics and sensors in these new cars it might be a good idea.

You can download a manual at this site, but you may have to register and login first.

I have no idea where you can get a hard copy manual, but I'm sure Mazda will sell you one if you find the right place to ask.

Ring the junk yard/wreckers and see if you can buy a owners manual from them. Otherwise you should be able to order / buy one from the parts department at the dealership.
