Engine noise on start up
I have a 2022 Mazda CX5. On cold start it makes a weird noise that is only present at high idle. It will stop after high idle kicks off, or you can Rev the engine and it will stop but once reaches the high idle point its back, or put it in gear it will stop. It only happens on cold start and usually doesn't return unless the car has been sitting for 5 more hours. It doesn't seem to affect the Performance of the car. Mazda dealer has no idea what's causing it.. any ideas?
2.5L, the noise sounds like a heat sheild rattle, but its coming from the passenger side of the engine. Nothing is loose on the exhaust or heat shields.

Rattle is "generally" an exhaust issue.
Other possibilities, though unlikely on a 2022, timing chain, valve cover, oil issues.
You should have the dealer "find the issues" and/or at least file an "open issue" claim with the dealer and Mazda.
That way if something really serious you have a "leg up" so to speak.
All that said, I find my CX-5 engine to be a fairly noisy on start-up but then quiets down when warmed up.
Good luck
