Default Drivers seat Position

Hi I have a 2024 CX-5. I have followed the manual directions to set the drivers seat position, however, when my wife is near the passenger door and opens it with the black button on the handle, the drivers seat moves to her setting. This is crazy. My wife drives the car less than 1% of the time. Is there a way to set the seat position to always default to setting 1 to avoid this mess?

Thanks for your help!!

Open your Door first, or unlock it with your Fob.

The key fob is probably programmed/saved to her key fob. If you hold the set button until it beeps, and then press the unlock button on the key fob while the car is running, it will save that seat setting to the key fob every time it's used to open the door. Either do that, or open the car with your key fob first.

Share the same key - Which is absurd --or clear the settings by pushing the SET button ,,,until you hear a beep , within 5 seconds push the KEY LOCK button 1x ---then the presets are cleared ---manually adjust every time since she only uses it 1% of the time -
OR ---Follow the reset clear procedure I just listed ...then reprogram your seat position ONLY #1 and dont program position #2

Thanks to all. For a highly computerized car you would think that when my wife's keys are used to open the passenger front door the system would be smart enough (programmed) not to adjust the Drivers seat position. I think this a basic failure of the car design engineers.

The settings are saved to the remote.

If the vehicle is unlocked via her remote ( regardless of what buttons pressed ) , her settings are performed.

If the vehicle is unlocked via your remote( regardless of what buttons pressed ), your settings are performed.

Very simple and definitely not a Failure.

The problem is she does not use her remote she uses the black button on the door to unlock it. So I still say this is a programming failure.

When she presses the black button on the door handle, the car retrieves the settings from the key fob she is holding and adjusts the seat according to the settings programmed in her key fob.
Program your seat settings into her key fob, and you’ll have what you want, instead of accusing the car’s design engineers of making a basic mistake.

You might ask why the car designers didn’t choose to make it so that, when the black button on the passenger-side door handle is pressed, the other seat position for the driver's chair would be selected than the one stored in the key fob...
Remember that with two selections on the chair and two key fobs you have four independent programmable chair positions.

Does any manufacturer do this? And, if you open the passenger side to put something in or for a passenger without a fob, this could result in more confusion.
