Are diesels really a problem? (2017+)
How's it going team,
I'm in the market for a used SUV, many hours of reading and review watching has me looking at cx-5's. Now I need to decide on the drivetrain I want to look for.
First my parameters:
I'm in New Zealand
Budget is $30-$35k
I would like 2017+ and higher specIdeally 50-60k km max
I have test driven all 3 drive drive trains and prefer the sound a feel of the 2.2 diesel. It also seems easier to get a higher spec within my parameters and budget compared to the 2.5l petrol. But all that poking around on the internet has me a little worried about the diesel.
I understand that there were some know problems in the first generation. Are there still concerns about longer term reliability in the diesel compared to the 2.5l petrol for the second gen 2017 forward?
I also understand that you need to be doing solid km regularly to ensure the dpf is cleaned properly. I'm a bit worried I'm sitting right on the edge. This car would be traveling into town 2-3 times a week (25km windy nz 100km road each way). With 1-2 trips to the local shop per week (less than 1km each way). Is the diesel just more problem than it's worth in this scenario?
Appreciate any input
