Delivery tomorrow…what must have accessories?
I added body side moldings (from sportwing.com). If she parks in parking lots; they’re a necessity (at least from my experience). Their prepainted color matched excellently with the factory paint.
Struts for the hood is a great up grade, for one.
My 2¢
I also added paint protection film on the whole front, including the whole hood and front fenders door cups and edges. Just a lot of unprotected paint on the front and too many stones around here yields rock chips.
Congrats on the new vehicle! Mine turned a year old last week.
I ordered up the Weathertech trunk mat when I first got the CX5 but ended up returning it. The fitment just wasn't real good. It was wavy around the edges and just didn't look right. I ended up getting the same Mazda one that my mom has in her 2014. It fits perfectly. I don't recall if they're Mazda or Weathertech but I've got nice rubber floor mats in the cabin.
As others have mentioned the struts to hold up the hood are a really nice addition and don't take too long to install. I went with the kit from Redline Tuning. It was more expensive but seemed to be better made than some of the kits I'd seen. https://www.redlinetuning.com/product-p/21-26012-02.htm The first time I went in for an oil change the kid who worked on my car complimented me on them and asked who made the kit.
I also had front and rear mud guards put on. I got the dealer to throw those in at no cost. I had them on my last car and liked the looks -- I don't know that they're a necessary item.
A couple months after I got the CX5 I ended up buying a new bicycle and quickly decided I didn't want all my bike rides to begin at home and needed a rack to put on the car. I only mention this because if there's any possibility you'll need a hitch for pulling a trailer or adding a bike rack or other accessory check with local shops that specialize in those. I heard some not so great reviews on the Mazda branded one and IIRC it was very expensive.
