Default CX5 D Engine Oil Level High

My new 2019 Mazda CX5 Diesel showed "Engine Oil Level to High" at 3400 miles and now again at 6000 miles. According to the dealer, the diesel fuel is found to be mixing in with the oil so their answer is to drain the oil and replace. I saw this happening a lot in Australia (after I purchased) and am wondering if anyone is experiencing this in the US and if the dealer has given any resolutions. Or if anyone has any advice?

Oil dilution occurs when the engine is switched off during a DPF regen cycle. Excess diesel supposed to be burnt to clear up the DPF instead makes it way to the oil sump thereby mixing with the oil.

For units with i-stop, a sure way to know the DPF is doing a regen is when the engine icon is unlit even if i-stop is green or active in the instrument cluster.

Only way to prevent oil dilution is to let the regen finish before shutting it off. Unsure how to tell if you don't have i-stop in USA.

Marjie, do you do a lot of short trips? Lots of low speed round town driving? This has a big effect on your issue.

With the diesel being new to the USA, the dealerships don't have the experience that overseas markets have. Australia has had the diesel CX-5 since 2012.

My 2019 CX-5 diesel is now at the dealership with ‘Engine oil is too high” warning.
I was told that there was two cars reported in Oregon, that would make mine and yours the two.
The warning first appeared last week, with 5,200 miles on car.

@ 5,200 miles, you are only 800 miles away from your service.

Yep. I had my “7,500” service done seven days before the warning was given.
I just picked up my car after leaving it for four days at the shop, the Mazda factory rep wanted to
inspect and work with the dealers shop people to gather information. End result was to do a ”12,000”
mile service (oil filter, air filter, oil change) and asked to keep watching for any warnings.

Sounds like they overfilled the oil at the service.

Except they did not change or add any oil.

The 7500 service would of been a oil & filter change.

Default Any updates?

I bought my cx5 D in March of this year, just had this engine oil level high warning come on. It is at the dealer now with the direction from a service bulletin to call Mazda Corp and not do anything else. Just wondering what happened to the two or three of you that have experienced this so far?
