Default CX-5 Windscreen wipers

Hi All,
I have a 2015 CX-5. Front windscreen wipers suddenly stopped working. Wipers are in “park” position with no life. The windscreen washer works fine, so not fuse. Rear wiper is fine.

I’m thinking switch or FBCM, or maybe motor… How do I definitively diagnose?

If it is FBCM, can this be simply replaced, or is there need to configure/set-up with car?

Thanks for any advice.

Cheers, Jim

You can reset the FBMC by disconnecting the battery.
But before you do that you should get a diagnostic scan done (some shops/parts dealers will do this free) which will show the issue (code).
That way you'll know what to fix instead of trying an assortment of remedies that may or may not work.
I say that because the FBCM is over $250, wiper motor $228 and the switch $121 not counting installation.

FBCM requires programming to your car.

What you need is a scan tool with live data for the FBCM, where you can monitor the operation of the wiper stalk.

In the meantime, I suggest applying Rain-X or Ceramic Spray Wax to keep the vehicle safe to drive in the rain. It really does prevent the need to use wipers if the coating is still active.

@Jimwatt . I have exactly same issue. Wipers stopped working. Washer works. Fuse is fine. FBCM reset didn't help.
What was the issue in your case?

It was indeed the Front BCM. I found one on eBay for £40 which worked a treat.
Better than the £400 quote from Mazda...
I did not need to do any re-programming but was careful to match series numbers.

thanks. I'm quite sure that BCM is an issue in my case too..I'll get one online, but I thought they always need to be programmed. Well, I'll find out once it arrives.
