Default CX-5 locked with motor running?

Is it possible to lock your Mazda CX-5 and walk away with the motor still running? Thanks, John

I know you can do that if you use the key that is located in your FOB.

Yup otherwise the car won't let you lock it while still on.

Welcome to the forum

Only if you have the key fob with you. If you leave it in the Mazda with the engine running the doors should not lock. It is part of the safety feature.

You could test it yourself. I've found that IF you leave the remote on the console and run back into the house for something, the car will lock itself, and will not respond to the button on the door handle or the other remote. I had to crawl in through the rear hatch. I now leave the remote in the upper recess of the drivers door when I have to leave the motor running.

As an aside, I had a spare key made from the key inside the remote JIC.
Roll the window down as a safe guard, with the motor running try locking the door and leave the remore in the door. IF it locks you know what works. If it locks you out, you can get back in via the window.
Just a suggestion.

the only option i have found is...get out of the car with the key fob with it running with the drivers window down...lock the doors through the open drivers window and turn the drivers window up...everything is locked...use the manual key located inside the fob to regain entry...or open the rear hatch with the fob present by pressing the button on the hatch (not the fob hatch button, will not work) and crawl through the rear hatch...doors won't unlock using the fob...the trick to turn down your windows from the fob won't work and the app doesn't seem to work to unlock the doors in this condition

oh and mazda make your fob so the key stays attached to the keychain loop...not hidden inside a panel where you need to slide a button to the side to access a tiny key that could get lost...similar to kia (can't believe i said that)...

Why in the world would anyone want to do that???
At some point at least I think personally some threads are ridicules!

Some of these question never come up in any shop I have worked or owned and my friends specifically in the service department at one of the biggest Mazda dealership in Northern California also agree.

* I would like a few member to email Mazda USA with some of these question and post both what you asked and Mazda response !!!

You can redact personally information!
* perfect music for that request!
