I have CX 5 AWD (MY2016) with manual transmission and a horible clunk noise somewhere from transmission/drivetrain.
The sound is heard like there is some backlash somewhere in transmision, when I shift from 1. to 2. and to 3. gear, and also if I suddenly let of the gas pedal when in 1. or in 2. gear, so the engine brakes.

But the dealer say it is all OK....???

Does anybody alse have this isue?

Did a quick look with any concerns here in USA, didn't come up with anything related to that particular complaint. Then again the ratio of M/T v.s. A/T's is very small. Ask the service department to have the tech go for a test drive with you. This way you can point out exactly what your concern is. Also, take a new CX-5 for a ride, right off the lot, and see if the same noise is present. If it's not, you have a valid issue.

 

I've been active on another much more active CX-5 forum for years and I've never seen this complaint. As Sparky202 said, you need to demonstrate it to the dealer, not just drop it off with them and hope they can replicate it. What you describe is NOT NORMAL.

 

I have already been at the dealer, we went to test ride and thay said It is all OK. We also tried another - test CX 5, and the clunk noise is also present....??
Thats why I'm asking if someone else have noticed this isue, because it is so disturbing that I can't believe that I'm the only one complaining about it....???
We have also tried AT CX 5 AWD and shifting is so smooth with NO clunk noise.

I was at the dealer...again, and we replaced the transmission oil.
But there is no improvement .... the problematic sound is still present.
The dealer say this is all that can be done....that the sound is normal...?

 

I find out that there are also many cars in Germany that have this clunk sound...
New "skyactiv" Mazda cars sopoused to be known for its loud transmissions...and the reason is lightweight construction with poor isolation....
