Default CX-5 with 2x4 transmission - any reviews?

Hello, everybody. Has anyone driven CX-5 with 2x4 (instead of widely popular 4x4), which is the cheapest available version in Europe? I'd really appreciate impressions steering-wise, handling-wise. Any problems? Sharp turns? Sliding? Losing control?

Thanks a lot,
Mac

Slightly more get up & go. No noticeable difference on sealed roads.

(The 4WD system only engages when the the computers detect excessive wheels spin at the front wheels. So a the 4x4 model is 2WD most of the time)

On a sealed road there's no grip issues, so you don't notice any difference between 2WD & 4WD models.

On gravel 4WD has the advantage of grip.

Does this make sense to you now?

we bought 2WD since it doesn't really snow here in California.. gas mileage is better too than 4WD.

I got the 2.0 FWD manual here in Montreal - I'm having some fun with it but if I could have gotten a manual tranny with the 2.5 I would have in a heartbeat... AWD is rather over rated IMHO... honestly, we see some bad a$$ winters in Montreal and there are only a couple of times a year you'd REALLY need AWD if the streets aren't cleared quick enough or if it's ice storming and the roads are skating rinks... Even then, it's possible to work a FWD to get where you need to be...

I've never had an AWD vehicle (will soon though - a 2004 A4) and have never had any trouble getting around in the city, especially now with the higher clearance compared to my previous Toyota Echo! The only times I could see needing it more is if you were in the country, with dirt roads and/or lots of hills or just needed to always have accelerating traction year-round... AWD simply won't help you turn or brake... Anyways, if I was really concerned about AWD or no AWD, I would just get a Subaru.
