Exclamation CX-5 2016 GT OEM Tires

Good day,

How many miles did you guys get out of the factory OEM Toyo A23 tires? I just hit 30K and the dealer is saying I'll need new tires before the winter (Chicago). I would say I have about 50% tread life. I was going to try and push 40K miles out of them. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Matt

35K or so is about all you can expect on an OE tire with a UTQG rating of 280. I wouldn’t consider “pushing” a worn all season tire through a Chicago winter a prudent idea. Time to go tire shopping!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah probably a few more months to go since i average around 2500 miles each month. How long did yours last?

I had the 17" Yokohamas which wore out a bit prematurely at 31k because I lowered the car and was running a bit too much negative camber before I added adjustable upper rear control arms and front strut camber bolts when I replaced the tires with General Altimax RT43. These tires, with a wear rating of over 600, are holding up well.

Regardless of model, All Factory fitted Toyo tyres appear to wear out very fast. They are usually a very soft rubber, which gives good grip, low noise & comfort. The trade-off is short lifespan.

Any tire will become noisier as it ages/wears.

I'm pushing these babies to 40K. I'm at 31K now. Hopefully they can tolerate the snow, I'll just have to drive extra cautiously.

Got my eyes on these:

I ran the Goodyear Assurance on my wife's old Outback which was replaced by the CX5 and I put them on the CX5 because I just didn't like the Toyos that came on it. They have been great on both vehicles, handling bad weather with aplomb and smooth and quiet on the highway.
