Default Cramped cup holders

I just bought a 2015 CX-5 touring. I love nearly everything about the interior, but the console cup holder is too cramped for 2 drinks, and so deep and slender that a small to go cup sinks down to the lid and you can't get hold of it to pick it up. Has anyone found a fix for this?

There are cup holder “liners” available on the internet that raise the cup up higher with a more restrictive opening, making it easier to grab. I almost bought one, but decided not to as I rarely use the feature. Check Amazon for starters.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have seen a few of these, but like you was not sure it was worth the cost for a little cup shaped rubber liner or an inch thick foam disc.

My 2016.5 came with these silly foam inserts that fit in the bottoms of the cup holders just for this purpose. I never use them.

Those actually would work for my purposes and I found some on the internet, but can't bring metals to spend nearly $20 for a pair of foam discs.

I found a "slip in" beside the seat cup holder and "junk" catcher, it even has a coin cup.
I bought a pair from China through eBay and they shipped both for the same side. I installed the one and it works well enough, holds a water bottle. It will not hold a large coffee, milk shake, etc. Very pleased with this holder. I have the parchment leather and bought a black on black holder.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check out.

My 2016 came with a foam disc in one of the cup holder sockets that raises the cup about 1.2 inches. I use tall cups so I do not use it. Perhaps you should check a new Mazda in the showroom of a Mazda dealer to see if it has one in there. Perhaps yours got "lost".

Thanks for the tip. I'll go to the dealer and look. Still using my find on eBay and really like it. I remounted a vent cup holder and grew to hate it in ten minutes.

Default Dealer

If you find vehicles at the dealer with the inserts I suggest that you make a lot of noise and ask the dealer to give you a set from one of the vehicles in stock. He can always replace them later. Remember, the squeay wheel gets the grease.
