Cost of minor repair
A minor fender-bender required the replacement of a headlight on my 2014.
The estimate included an astounding $744 for this item.....here's part of the reason our insurance premiums are so exorbitant.

Sorry Heritage, but it's largely a piece, several pieces of plastic glued together, and made in Asia too. The only reason they cost that much is to improve the manufacturer's (and all the middleman's) bottom line.
The last time I checked, the halogen assemblies were in the $450 range from a dealer, yet they can be had aftermarket for as little as $125.
For something that's going to fade, discolor and crack in the sun in a few years anyway, that's way too much IMO.
I think Nick makes a good point. As the cost of repair parts go up, so do our insurance rates.
But let's not also forget all the bad and distracted driver's out there too. In the past three weeks, or less, I have had three close-calls that would not have been my fault. I've own my 3 for 11 years now and until just recently only saw the ABS dashlight come on once before. In the past three weeks, two more times, one just last night on my way home from work when a guy shorted his left hand turn and pulled right into the lane I was turning into.
