Well, that was mean. Gotta love the internet.

My understanding is that the torque converter on the Mazda is a locking torque converter. Unlike, the Ford, which is purely a fluid coupling, though I think it has the ability to lock at a higher speed. But, most of the time, the Ford is running through the fluid coupling. The Mazda torque converter has the ability to lock up and does so at much lower speeds. Though i have not seen one taken apart, myself, I envision is as a wet clutch pack, similar to a motorcycle. At very low speeds, it's a fluid coupling (clutch unlocked). But, at a slow crawl (say 5mph), it will lock up forming a direct link between the crank shaft and the input shaft, thereby becoming more efficient. The "clutch" locks and unlocks on an algorithm, which does add a little bit of something different in the low speed experience than have previous vehicles I've owned. I perceive it as a bit of a jerk, some clicking is heard as well.

If not correct, instead of being snippy, why don't you link to some literature that explains the reality or perhaps attempt to explain it so we can all learn and in turn make this better community vs a place of cut downs?

First let repeat what you seem to no understand this thread by you is being taken in a topic not anywhere close to what it was started as. So ya gotta love the internet for some that do not even understand forums and topic subjects by the title and by the previous responses prior to yours??

Lets try is agin ... go read the thitile and the subsequent follow up responses up to your first responses here !

What part of that title indicates the subject of the transmission? rolmao!!!

As for giving a lesson, it was a 3-hour service *technical class to learn about the Mazda Skyactiv transmissions to be able to only service it that was not to completely rebuild it which BTW I have taken 2 completely apart now and have engineered and or made a few things improved over MAZDA. Not sure how you think it can be summarized on a forum? But again, you posted information that is not exactly accurate, and I am saying again to you if your transmission is acting as you claimed then it should be looked at. Or make sure you have your AAA payment up to date.

Didn't the OP mention jerky shifts on this thread?

I couldn't really understand your post there due to the typos. But, I'll save us all some time and concede that you are better than me, smarter than me, and more knowledgeable than me since that was your goal.

LOL dude maybe you should look into a member past responses.
Like I did yours when I saw the information you posed here? I realized this was not our first interaction and ya I am more experience then you by far! Not a conceit but a fact....
If you in anyway think that is incorrect please post a response about yourself here:
What do you do or have done for a living - Mazda Forum - Mazda Enthusiast Forums

Because you either never notice or don't know because you are to new a member so I will explain If I end a response on any thread with ASE thatsignifies that I just gave a professional response.

BTW NO forum likes a member that is grammar **** none!
If you don't understand the phrase look it up.
I don't have time as I respond daily to no less then about a dozen forums. Grammar, sentence structure, spelling, syntax, etc., was never my strong point in colleges and specialized education and training.
I might add that we have members on this forum from all over the world and correcting them in grammar is rude because many use a translator program or website to post on forums that are predominately English posted responses. But UI do understand that is an age thing not to understand that.

BTW if the AC compressor is not function correctly and is cycling on and off depending on the engine speed an owner could think the feel is jerky and it is having nothing to do with the transmission at all. LOL
