The current CX 5 from 2016 u mean?
Just looking at the CX 8 as another option as doesn’t look as huge as the 9 but we would only do this if they traded our CX5 as is for a fair price as it won’t cost them $4k to fix it. My fear is keeping it once fixed, more could reveal itself.

Oh really! That is my dear in keeping the CX 5. If we could negotiate a good price on trading ours in as is then it looks like that’s what we need to do although we didn’t need this at the moment finance wise.

I had a quick look and it looks like the CX 8 is only in diesel here in NZ at the moment. I’m guessing we should stay away from that or any Mazda twin turbo diesel?
The CX 8 looked liked a good fit between being bugger than the 5 but not as large as the 9.

 

According to the inside word at Mazda, the faults of the earlier diesel engines have been revised/fixed.

 

That’s good know. I’m hoping they bring the petrol out here in NZ.

Mazda NZ have come to most of the party with the turbo. We only having to pay for the 6 hours labour.

Regarding the oil light, seems at the 120km Full service they didn’t complete the job correctly so have fixed that issue.

I think though we may need to consider a trade sooner than initially anticipated when funds allow. I was told the gear stick on our auto transmission told them ours was the facelift model and didn’t have the engine issues the earlier models were know for......

To be honest, trade it in ASAP if you can afford to. It's a ticking time bomb.

 

I was worried you might say that. I even said it to my husband but good to have your confirmation. It would be great to see the CX 8 in petrol here or maybe it’s time to look at other brands away from Mazda.

The 2.5 ltr CX-5 has plenty of power and very good fuel economy & its virtually bulletproof.

It just sucks that you wouldn't be having any issues of blame or acceptance of manufacture error if you lived in OZ.
