Battery replacement
Hello,
I was on yearly service at Mazda official dealer.
The advice was to replacece the battery. Service team said it must be done by the technician as the computer must be reprogrammed. Otherwise the computer will not recognise the new battery and i-stop function will not work.
I am not convinced in this.
Can I replace the battery on my CX 5, 2016, petrol 165 bhp, with i-stop function? Is there anything special to do apart from disconnect and remove old battery, connect new battery?
Thanks

Technically they are correct, the vehicles' computer needs a constant 12v power supply, or it will likely go into trouble mode and require a reflash (reprogramming).
You can accomplish this by keeping the vehicle supplied with the required 12v volts.
There are several ways to do this (jumpers, memory saver cables, etc.) but all require the proper equipment which you have to purchase.
There are many auto parts stores who will replace your battery for free if you purchase it from them as do some dealers.

Gas model only. The memory is only (may) some accessories not in the ECU. It is a simple R&R service unless you are concerned with retaining radio setting and other driver personal settings etc.
Your istop may and should be re-set. See your owner's manual how to under changing battery.

For someone living in London I would recommend at least to use an authorized to publish service procedures by the auto manufactures and not any website that gives the impression through copied auto manufacture symbols service procedures. They are often flawed. Use at your own risk!
