I'm going to buy a CX-5 later this year and I'm wondering if the AWD is worth it.
I currently live in the Northeast where AWD would benefit me, but I'll be moving to California soon and I don't know if I should just try to find a FWD version.
Apparently there are not that many FWD CX-5s in this part of the country and I'm wondering if going with the AWD is worth the extra expense.

 

Not unless you intend to drive on the beach in California, or go camping, or go off roading.

 

I searched inventory in my region, within 250 miles there are only like 2 FWD CX-5s. Any tips on how I can get one in the Northeast?

 

Any dealership will special order a vehicle for you with exactly the options you want. Should take 6 - 8 weeks to come in depending on back log. All wheel drive is worth it in the north east that's for sure. I cant speak for CA.

 

Will I be paying more if I special order the vehicle?

 

No it doesn't cost more to special order a car. You are still entitled to any current rebates on the car as well. You still negotiate just like the car was in front of you, you just have to wait to get it.

 

You might have to put a large deposit down on a fwd CX-5.
