Hi everyone,
I have a 2017 cx5 that I bought new.
A month after I had it, I was pulled over for driving at night with no parking lights.
So what happened was, the headlights always come on automatically at night however the parking lights do not and neither do the interior gauge and control lights unless I manually turn the headlights on..
Am I missing something or is there an actual problem with the auto lighting system?

 

Those are not headlights that come on, they are DRLs (Daytime Driving Lights). If your car is equipped with automatic headlights, you will have an "auto" setting on the headlight control stalk. That's where you should leave it.
