Not sure if this helps but I watched a video review of the 24 CX5 with the 2.5t and it was said on the video that the Start/stop is only on the 24 NA engine and not the turbo.

The engine doesn't use the starter motor to restart the engine with i-stop.

The engine is stopped with cylinder 1 on TDC, to restart, it fires the injector & spark plug on cylinder 1 and uses this process to wind the engine over, same as the starter motor would.

Thanks. Not sure iturbo is wither money at purchase, gas cost and insurance cost, though.

The difference in insurance cost would be negligible. The price will also not be that much of a difference. The main two things that you will have to consider are the poor city gas mileage and getting oil changes done every 5000 miles instead of every 7500 miles. Other than that the car is super fun and still gets fantastic gas mileage on the highway with a turbo.

How about the red seats? Classy or cheesy?

I have them and love the way they look. They're darker than what they look like in pictures/videos, and really mesh well with the polymetal gray.

I took delivery on a 2023 Carbon Edition a few weeks ago. The dealer had approx. 25 2023's on the lot and 5 were carbon editions. They were taking $2500 off of MSRP on the 23's to move inventory. They also had 24's coming in but I opted for the 23 for the discount. I wasn't wild about the stop/start new to the 24's either which also weighed my decision. Was looking for the red interior but only black were available and I have really come to prefer the black, the reddish stitching looks really classy on the black leather. Driving in my area I am averaging 30.5 MPG, very happy with that and the engine provides plenty of power for my driving requirements. I am really enjoying this forum and absolutely love the CX 5, my third Mazda. Thanks for the valuable info.

Good call on passing on the 2024. Myself and others despise the stop/start and touchscreen being brought back. Enjoy the new ride!

Gonna disagree with you on the I start. I bought a 2024 Carbon Edition (love the red seats) 9 days ago and I have noticed the I start kick in twice. Drives from stops exactly the way my 2018 CX-5 did. I have tried turning off the I start (I was not a fan either), but honestly there is NO difference in performance. The 2024 has touchscreen for the CarPlay which the 2023 does not. It works flawlessly! Dealer gave me $1500 off MSRP and $18K for my 2018 with 52K miles. The 2024 is much improved over the 2018 in interior quality and handling. Also, my old CX-5 did not have Homelink and the Power Liftgate. Both nice features.
