Had right rear brake seize up. Piston froze in closed position causing nasty grinding and such. Replaced it at a big cost and a new part (from Mazda through my fixit guy) at about 80,000. Then the same thing happened about a year later. Mazda told then that this was a common occurrence and replaced the part for free.
Last month we were rear ended really badly. Came within a hair's breath of having the car totaled by the insurance company. Collision guy said that we were actually lucky in a way in that the entire rear suspension was about to need to be replaced which we now got for free
Hoping that this will be my first car to pass 200,000 miles
Quick update:
Now up to 135,000. Two more brakes seized and failed, with very expensive repairs. Still hoping to break 200,000
Hey, I just created a thread about my own experience with my 2018 cx5 sport. Right now it is at 89600k miles and going fine as far as I can tell. The only thing I get is a soft clunking noise that's not loud but only started within the past year or year and half.
Normal and customary maintenance items -- fluid swaps, oil/filter, air filters.
This year I'll be doing minor fix-it stuff, such as:
MAF sensor cleaning.
Throttle body cleaning.
Tracking down some squeaks (in the A-pillar and headliner areas).
A full cleaning out of the engine bay; "waxing" all painted surfaces. Perhaps I'll find some minor leaks, weeping, etc, that'll need correcting.
By next year, as a preventive measure I'll consider doing:
Shocks and any other worn items (ie, ball joints, tie rod ends). Am mulling which shocks+springs. So far, none of that has been necessary.
Hoses and clamps in the engine bay.
Nice post. What do you think about the timing chain? I have heard it's better to replace then consider a true lifetime part. For transmission fluid change, did you drain or flush. I have heard to do a flush.
I have a 2018 @ 89700 miles and have done breaks, rotors, drive belt and oil/filers

My 2013 Mazda CX-5 Touring (6 Speed Manual) is about to hit 205k, with ZERO major issues since buying it at 60k. Every time I take it in to have it looked at, they haven't suggested much at all besides air cabin filters (lots of dog hair). I don't see any reason it won't make it to 300k unless something horrendous happens.
