Anything new about AA update? Looking forward to Google maps, WAZE etc. Dealer is uncertain.

Yes, looking forward to getting andoid auto and apple car play soon. Mazda keeps on promising, keeping fingers crossed that we get this update this year.

 

Carplay and Android Auto require a new AUX unit. The new software that includes them checks for the new hardware and disables this software option if old hardware. So does anybody know how to tell if my new 2018 CX-5 has the new hardware?

 

Got a flask about Android and Apple Auto being available next month for European Mazdas. Apparently it will require hardware and software changes to both systems. No doubt this will be true in the USA once Mazda gets off its duff. No word about pricing.

Just bought a 2016.5 CX-5 AWD Touring. REALLY hoping I can get this update. Makes me wonder if they don't want to do it because they'd rather sell their $400 navigation software rather than let you use Google Maps.

 

Was told by the salesman when I bought a 2017 CX-5 last December it would be a free upgrade. Now I am not so sure. It has navigation (Tom Tom?) Difficult to use. Had considered a hack that would permit entering data when moving but it will not work with my version of the firmware. Has anyone tried Android Mirror? A new Android headunit?

 

My salesman let me know August 6th is the official release, I told him to email me as soon as I could bring mine in!

 

Does anyone have WRITEN instructions on how to install Android Auto using a thumb drive? My information system does not permit use of a usb input but I have seem a video that gets around this. Am afraid of bricking the system so every bit of info helps.
