Default which 2024 trim to buy today?

Hello Mazda boys and girls
For the past 8 years my family has enjoyed owning and driving CX-5' including 2016 GT, a 2019 GT, a 2021 GT and a 2021 GT Premium Package. Today I am trading in the 2021 GT and will buy either a Select, Preferred, or Premium.
The price difference is approximately $0 for the Select, +1,300 for the Preferred, $4,700 for the Premium.
The 17" vs 19" wheel size or electric tailgate hatch or leather vs leatherette seating or Bose audio does not matter to me. However the digital tachometer (Premium) vs old school tachometer (Preferred and Select) does matter a bit, though I am not sure that feature alone is worth to me $4,700.
For my future reference, on sale or trade-in do the higher trim levels hold their value better than the Select? Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

Even at $4700 you'll likely see no significant value difference in the future.
Purchase what serves you best and don't worry about the resale/trade value.
Used vehicles are currently in a free fall and unless we have another pandemic or chip shortage, I don't see that market changing.
Little point in paying a premium for a used car with no factory warranty.

Are you suggesting that when I trade-in or sell the CX-5 I buy today a Select or Preferred or Premium would all have approximately the same dollar value? In other words, little or no extra dollar value for the higher trim levels?
Thanks.

Basically yes, at least in my area of the country.
Trading every three years you are most likely losing money anyway.
You rarely will ever recoup 50% of the trim cost in any regular vehicle especially if it's a $4700 dollar difference.
You could check your local online dealerships for used pricing in different trims and get an idea of what I'm saying.
Again, I would purchase what I wanted and not worry about resale/trade-in value.
If you are worried about that, you may possibly be purchasing over your budget to begin with.
Good luck in whichever you decide.

For the past 8 years I've traded-in three GT CX-5's in exchange for newer model CX-5 GT's. It seems the financial cost of doing this averages out to about $6K per year (pay $30K OTD for a GT and 3 years later pay $18K OTD for a new GT) . I enjoy driving CX-5's and am o.k. with their depreciation and, or $6K per year ownership cost.
My question today is about trim level financial differences because my past experience has only been trading GT's for new GT's.

I agree with Lobstah. I just bought a 2024 Signature Turbo. Buy before the end of the month for free money. You can't count on what the market is going to do. You just deal with what is at the time. For me, the few thousand upgrade from the Carbon or Premium made it a no brainer. Not for resale but for comfort and convenience. The best way to get best resale is care and maintenance. True in any market.

I was out shopping today for a CX-5, what is this "Free Money" you mention above?

My guess is that the "free money" he mentions refers to 0% financing.

Today I did a trade-in of my red 2021 CX-5 GT for a 2024 red CX-5 Select. Thanks to all here who provided helpful replies to my OP.
