The funny thing is, you still don't know if he actually has this in his car, or not.... You just assume he is joking. Also funny is you prove the point he made in another thread about DYNO testing and responses by you and lobster. Nothing is ever good enough according to you two. Lol.

First to be clear my last response you quoted was not directed at you. 
Ya see here is the thing. I "tuned" my MAZDA for one specific channel of XM I predominantly listen to using pink noise and my friend who owns a audio stereo shop sound analyzer and playing a variety of music that is played on that one station to adjust all 4 of my amplifiers. There is really not much sound reproduction equipment as in stereo system that can duplicate that.in a vehicle. So YES will sound better then most anything and especially that interesting audio part. you are writing about.
I will say unlike my 82 Camaro where I also measured the total free air space (volume) with 2 people in the car along with pink noise and sound analyzer to build that system , and that was in 1982. That system had 5 amps and 36 speakers.
Back then I use to charge 25 dollars in one of my shops just to design and write up a recommendation for a sound system and speaker locations. And this was when stereo sound contests were just beginning. lol

You missed the part that it is humanly undesirable to need to adjust every time you switch to a different kind of music even music source. I prefer XM for availability and the occasional flexibility of a larger selection of specific lessening . Even if I tunned the system for one main chanel.
At some point all your graph on any subject you should gather finding on the internet someday you should test how many actually work (ITRW) with anything you are working on? In the real world (ITRW) things are much different then in a shop or garage with no other sound imputes mudding up the sound reproduction , no matter how well you can tune a system or the device to receive the music. .

Because cars are travelling down crappy roads these days with low profile tires, and sport tuned suspension, road noise is so loud, can you even here the higher resolution?
But it cannot be argued that XM is low quality.

What many people lose sight of is the vast majority of folks can't tell the difference from low quality and hi-fidelity.
Add some age to that and it gets even worse for us old geezers (especially us old head banger ones who played in bands for years).
The human ear also isn't capable of even discerning most of what good audio equipment can produce.
Our hearing is 20/20 (20 hertz to 20 kilohertz).
Add some age to that and it gets even worse for us old geezers (especially us old head banger ones who played in bands for years).

If i can try and decipher what Callisto said. There might be other music sources that are higher resolution and higher dynamic range, but he likes the convenience of XM radio. Even though it is low quality.

Road and environment will disrupt the best sound systems in the average vehicle.
As for ease of use comment , you are presuming about which you no nothing about my habits first hand. Again I clearly said I designed my system around one specific media and channel. It is almost Imposible to design any auto sound system to accommodate all the replay devices or media unless you like adjusting about a dozen setting each time you change channel or device to play the music.
By using a db tool you can measure the sounds before starting the engine, after starting the engine, driving down the road..etc. There is a reason why you turn the sound volume up as you drive higher vehicle speeds. And it has NOTHING to do with how the music is reproduced to you. Fun fun:
My living room all doors shut: 42.4-42.7 db
Garage , garage door shut 43-2 db steady
In the garage my MAZDA windows up and my holding my breath rock solid 40.1db.....and when I farted it jumped to 47.3db LOL

The addition of a Universal CD player is very easy to mount and connect to just about any factory sound system. If you know how to do it prperly
Just look for a an inexpensive one and talk to a stereo shop that can install it properly for you connecting it to your sound system
Why do people not answer the question and interject stupid comments like why would anyone want to listen to CD produced music.
Released what people ask in their thread. Your personal tastes in how you listen to music may vary and is not supporting in any way to helping a member get a answer this question.
I have a collection of 8 tracks , Quad 8 tracks, Cassettes, Real to Real, *Vinyl's (returning by popular demand and very much available) etc.... why because I am an audiophile and there is just some music that is only really when you hear how it was originally produced and sold for us to hear.
