Wait- they don't come with an SD card??
We have a 2022 preferred on order. I'm ignorant to navigation in cars, is it typical for you to need to buy your own SD card? Seems ridiculous to buy a $30,000 car and have to purchase a stupid SD card for it

The SD card is only included on the Signature trim level staring in 2021. You have the ability to buy one and add it to other trims. Don't pay the silly $450 the dealer wants though. Get one online for 50 or less. Yes, it is ridiculous. My 33k '19 GT had it included, but my 38k '21 GT-R did not. The card costs Mazda about $5 bucks based on what the online sellers are charging.

Answering my own question based upon their website: "** Please note that the Mazda Toolbox now unfortunately rejects OEM cards, and therefore this card cannot be updated "

The toolbox rejects OEM cards? That makes no sense. So what cards will it update?

I had the same problem with the dealer once, unfortunately they can speculate and do it from time to time. Sincerely I don’t recommend Amazon, because I always had bad experience with it

Amazon - bought and installed on 2022 Turbo and working
$39.99...received it within 3 days, put it in the slot, and within minutes signs and speed limit on dashboard and HUD.

First post as a new owner of a 2022 CX-5. The car was missing the SD card for the nav system and the dealer ordered a new one, but said they don't know how long it could take because of the chip shortage. The vehicle was a trade from another dealership and the originating dealer apparently lost the SD card (that's the speculation).
Anyway, I'd like to have the sign recognition that I understand is enabled with the SD card installed. Not sure I'll actually use the nav (use Waze normally).
The dealer has been nothing but great, and I understand the chip shortage has caused all sorts of sourcing problems. That said, is there some other place I could get the SD chip and pay for it myself? Not sure how much it is or whether it's better to just wait for the order to come in.
Thoughts appreciated.
