Not out of your pocket
So it cost you $3000.00 in real money$$$ to drive the 2022 cx5 and dump it in the end. That was a smoking deal , it only cost you $250.00 a month . Better than any deal or lease in 2023 I ever saw.

I must be doing something wrong. Dealer was gonna trade me a 2020 for my CPO 2018 plus $7000. Which would have been almost $13000 for 2 years. $6000 in car payments plus the $7000 upgrade . Making it equivalent to almost $800 per month car payments.

Do the trick is to sell at CarMax then rebuy from a dealer?

If you want to sell your car and don't want to go the private sale route, selling it to carmax or one of their competitors (depending on what they offer) will get you more money than trading a car into the dealer that you're buying a new car from.

Sales tax and registration
And I'm not even going to ask about the sales tax and registration because I don't know if that is considered in this case or what the sales tax laws are in Oregon ,and truth be told I'm flat out worn out on this post and no longer give a damn. And most of all I remain dubious on the seat issue. What I do know is my 2023 CX5 carbon edition has very firm seats, and the Leather is more than likely water buffalo and not top grain cowhide. And at the price of the CX5 that's fine and to be expected. So if the OP is happy with the result ,that's all good." LET YOUR MONEY BUY YOU HAPPINESS " AND A GOOD DEAL IS A STATE OF MIND.

The front springs are much firmer than I thought. Pushing on the front end does not provide as much visual movement as I expected. Though, there is virtually zero with my cx5, and noticeable movement on a new one. A new one test driven is what I remember the vehicle riding like. Bumps are there, it’s still firm, but it doesn’t move your head around, or “hit you” my Cx5 you actually need to keep your head off the headrest or it is like someone jabbing you in the back of the head on rough roads (the new one on the same roads does not do that)
