Conrad is not really knowledgeable when it comes to service related, or anything really about vehicle's in general in fact he is often times declared inaccurate not only on this forum but a few other MAZDA related forums . lol

And Conrad I said REQUIRED ...please show the REQUIRED installation in a dealer vehicle prep from MAZDA. Or did you once again FAIL to read Exactly what I said.
And I have mentioned a few times (several) that I work at a dealer ship mostly as a salesman but because of my relationships with the owner, service Manager, Sales manager, Fleet Manager and parts department along with most all the techs and lots people I was privy to many things that are not normally public information pertaining to what goes on in a dealership. BTW I have seen the auto manufactures dealership delivery preparation information on several makes. So if someone wanted to call anything I posted in this thread WRONG I would suggest do it is a wide informational response instead of targeting a single NONE ESENTIAL single item. LOL . Most ALL, and I said ALL auto manufactures state that there may be parts and accessories packs in the trunk or passenger area that may need to be installed. I DOUGHT that even Conrad can find that on any MAZDA pre-delivery vehicle preparation instructions from MAZDA on specifically those caps/covers. LOL

Side note response to BWJ maybe you should have waited before responding? LOL
You know its to bad that the picture of those plugs supplied earlier do not have (even) a MAZDA part number. Chances are that size may be common for MAZDA???
OH speaking of package and information I notice nothing indication required installation? LOL

Thanks for the comments folks. Went to the dealer today and this is what I believe. These oval slots appear to allow tethering during shipment and are probably present on all their models. While Mazda probably originally supplied plugs to be inserted in the holes, this appears to have been discontinued. The service manager confirmed that plugs are not shipped with CX-5s or deemed necessary. Since I like to plug holes I may install some, but apparently not an issue. Again, many thanks.

Poor BWJ, siding with me only to endure Shemp's wrath. I'm sure that you'll be ok though, after the initial sting wears off.

Callisto, I have to wonder if all of those folks that you work with/around realize how lucky they are to have you as a coworker? A man who knows everything and is never wrong. You're simply amazing!

BTW, here's the part number for those non essential frame plugs you asked about.

Plug Hole - Mazda (FD01-56-051)

I can't get to my larger ones at the moment there is too much to move to access them. But I keep these as I said earlier on hand all the time.

In my field of business a large group of us spanning just about everywhere have over several hundred years of experience. So it is a matter of each one of us always "LOOKING OUT" and there is something new to learn everyday. If the real world does not fulfill that learning I go to classes or training on the latest in me field of interest and I always keep my ASE certification current. For interested members about my working back ground the link to mine and others on this forum is below.

These plugs are vital to many project I do for myself and others. You can never have to many of them.
