The latest software version as of 11/8/21 from our Virginia dealer is: 11026
Are there electrical contacts in the 2021 Infotainment system? All electrical connections are subject to oxidation unless they are 100% pure gold or 100% pure gold plated.
So we just went in for an oil change, and brought up the question to the dealer. Their response was they have troubleshooting guide. Step 1 is to update to the latest firmware, which they did, to see if the problem re-occurs. It should not, but if t does, Mazda have recommended next steps which they will pursue under warranty.

This will clean the contacts but will not prevent them from becoming oxidized again. A good quality, safe for plastics, contact cleaner will.
Hi,
I just purchased a new 2021 GTR version of CX-5. On random occurrences, the infotainment screen does not start on ignition. However, the back camera works fine when switched to back gear, and the screen on dash board also works fine.
When switch to D from R, the screen would turn black again. No speaker, no radio, no apple car play.
Since it happened on day 2, I switched to another new one at the dealer. But the second vehicle got the SAME problem. I wonder if it's a systematic issue. Dealer can't figure out, and have contacted Mazda and are waiting for their solution.
Quite like the car and don't want to be a b**ch and switch again. I'm quite computer-savvy but couldn't figure out any pattern when it happened. It happens quite randomly. Some day it would be running well, but I could park at a store and came back into the car in 5 minutes and the screen would be black. If the screen did start, it would remain good for the entire drive until next engine start.
Also, on YouTube I found a hard restart on the older system. It doesn't seem to work on the new 10.25 inch system. Please help!
Thanks!
Phil

I have had similar issues as above and same as others have discussed, with the added benefit of having the radio continue to play after the car is off and locked.
I spoke to the local Mazda dealership in Virginia Beach. Turns out this is a well known issue that they are tracing back to the latest iOS update (15 Beta). They are waiting with baited breathe for Mazda to send along the firmware updates to catch up with the advances in iPhone software.
In the interim, the service guy suggested reverting to iOS 14 until Mazda releases their updates. I’m considering soiyjust that…otherwise my infotainment system may simply useless for the foreseeable future. If anyone is interested in going this route, here is the link to a helpful YouTube video on that process.
I bought the the carbon edition and have been having similar issues with the infotainment system. Screen goes black, totally unresponsive. Once the R camera would not turn on either. First time the screen stayed off for over an hour even after turning the car on and off. The next time it happened I turned the car off and waited for all power to turn off. It rebooted when I turned it back on. Calls will also sometimes randomly end/drop while in CarPlay.
weirdest issue I have had is the lock/unlock buttons not working while car is on. I will be unable to unlock the car while inside from both driver and passenger buttons. Lasts for minutes!
Took it to the dealer, they couldn’t reproduce any of the issues. No codes show up. Problems started as early as about 3,000 miles. Currently at 13,900 miles. Concerned a bigger glitch is around the corner… love the car so far but it feels unsafe! First time driving a new car with any kind of issues like this.

If you downgrade your phone from iOS 15 to 14 what becomes of the security upgrades that came along with 15? My phone just updated last night, and the current update is 15.3.1
