Default 2020 CX-5 Whining Sound Heard Between ~45-60mph

Hi all!

My 2020 CX-5 AWD has developed a very subtle high-pitched whining sound when driving between ~45 and 60mph. It is heard regardless of steady speed in that range, acceleration, or deceleration. It sounds to be coming from the front left / driver’s side.

I'm thinking a wheel bearing, or maybe something on the drive/power train?

Mazda has this TSB of the symptoms for an A/T issue, but it only lists up to 2019 CX-5 models:
MC-10155437-0001.pdf

For all models, there is this one that describes wheel bearings:
MC-10209752-0001.pdf

Given I've just started hearing in the past few weeks or so, and I'm at ~67,000 miles, any thoughts on what it might be? My CX-5 is also covered under Mazda CPO (both limited warranty and the powertrain right now). I have an appointment in a week at a Mazda dealer I trust, but just trying to gather info and insights here.

Thanks!

-Jack

I just started hearing a whine at 25k miles on my 2022 non turbo. It happens all the time outside of breaking. From google search and FB it seems people are needing their transmissions replaced.

I used to hear a high-pitched whining on certain occasions in my CX-5.
But now my mother is an assisted living facility, and they have their own transport bus

Callisto -

I very much appreciate your reply to my thread.

So you for sure think it's a transmission issue? No chance of a wheel bearing?

I have my appointment tomorrow. I will report back.

Thanks again!

I never said that....This is a forum and from a standpoint of absolute no one can really state that? But wheel bearing generally sound a bit different when they start to go bad. most people can't hear it until the later stages. However, any good service shop should have a db handheld or other audio diagnostic equipment even a Philips screwdriver piece of vacuum line and a faster will work to listen to not only the transmission but also wheel bearings.... hopefully they know the difference between what is normal and not?

Yes, of course. My apologies. Got ahead of myself!
