Hello. My 2019 CX-5 came with roof rails and I would like to add crossbars. Are the crossbars removable? I would like to be able to remove the crossbars if not in use. This minimizes wind noise. Also, are the crossbars sold in Amazon compatible with the 2019 CX-5 rails?

The crossbars on the 2014 are removable, though there is a mount that remains on the rails. The only way to remove that is by removing the rails. However, the mount is not visible and, though it moves back and forth, I have not noticed it moving or making any noise when the crossbars are taken off. The only thing I use the crossbars for is a Thule roof box. I don't mind them being up there, but I have found that it is very hard to get the roof clean underneath the rails and the CX5 is an outside car, the garage being reserved for the Jeep and the MX5.

 

I have not seen a 2014 CX-5 roof rails. The roof rails of the 2019 CX-5 is flushed on the roof sides, unlike Subaru roof rails where there are holes which causes noise. I have to go to the Mazda dealer's parts department and ask the parts guy.

 

The 2014 rails are also flush with the roof with a slot on the inner side where the mounts fit and can move back and forth to adjust the crossbars to the position you desire.
