Default 2017 CX-5 Clicking when releasing EPB.

Hi Y'all!
It's been a hot minute since I've used a forum so bare with me.
I have a 2017 Mazda CX-5 and there is a clicking sound first thing in the AM when I release the EPB. You can hear the parking brake actuators, but there is also a click (2 times) with it, and I can feel it click in my pedal when my foot is on the brake. This just started a month or so ago. I have had it at the dealer recently for some warranty work on the trans. and they didn't mention anything about it, but I also noticed when I picked my car up the EPB wasn't on and I assume they didn't use it the entire time it was there.
I have been googling, and looking on forums and can't find anyone else experiencing this issue. I am also a Service Manager at an indy shop, and we cannot get it to duplicate in the shop on a lift and it won't happen more than maybe 2 times. Seems the clicking goes away the more you engage/release it.
It is driving me NUTS! It's loud, it's annoying, and I am at a loss of how to fix it.
Anyone have this issue??
Thanks

***Also posted this in the new member area because I have no idea how to properly use forums yet. My bad y'all!**

When anything, especially metal, is pressed against metal you always have the chance of it sticking, especially if the slightest bit of moisture is present.
Shoes, discs, actuators can all stick.
That's why I rarely if ever use any emergency brake and when I do it's only temporary, launching a boat and the like.
I've had too many instances of them sticking/rubbing in my vehicle history.
But that's me and I'm a bit different anyway

Have you removed and checked the EPB units with the vehicle in maint mode?

I have not. What is "maintenance" mode?

Haha. Different is good. Not sure I can go without using my Parking Brake tho. It's definitely a second nature reaction for me, and I do not like when a vehicle rolls forward after being put in P.

Any luck on figuring out what the clicking is? I changed the calipers rotors and brakes after messing up the old calipers (didn’t put it in maintenance until the calipers were off and caused the pistons to come all the way out). Installed new calipers rotors and pads and now the sound is clicking when releasing the epb. Will get a epb light randomly as well..

You may have damaged your brakes and or EBS system.
Not using the maintenance mode, it can cause all kinds of issues most of which you will not be able to fix.
Hopefully you'll only require a system reset.
If it were me, I'd take it to the dealer or whatever shop you use and have them do it correctly.
