2016 GT rolls while in Drive, engine off
The other day, I parked my CX-5 on a slight incline, turned the engine off, and accidentally left it in Drive.
When I removed my foot from the brake, it started rolling backwards as if it were in neutral.
I've never had this in another vehicle because it always seemed like the tranny kept it from rolling, but is this normal for the CX-5?
Thanks.

I would think a plain jain torque converter would allow for axle roll with the engine off, but the skyactive transmission is a hybrid with a direct linkage mode so I didn't want to make assumptions that the same applies to it. I take it this is a manual and you figured leaving it in gear was enough to lock the wheels?

I knew the % of engagement was targeted to be high but wow.. above 5mph. Anyways with the engine off and transmission in drive, I would assume it was this point in the drive train that is allowing the vehicle to move freely.

The fact is, ALL torque converter equipped automatic transmissions in the world, regardless of which manufacturer, will roll when the transmission is left in any forward or reverse gear. Simple fact of how automatic transmissions are built.
