Not sure if anyone has attempted it or know how to perform this task, but would it be possible to flush the transmission on the CX-5? I think it's a sealed unit and there's no inlet/outlet ports, but what if we siphoned all of the ATF fluid out of the dipstick, would that work to remove most of the fluid out?

Mazda has close ties to Idemitsu lubricants, supposedly using Idemitsu oil as
factory fill (engine). While it may not follow that Mazda uses their transmission
fluid, I would think any of the three I listed would be suitable for a fluid change.
Perhaps you could check with one of the larger transmission re-builders in your
area. They may well know of which type of T-fluid you would need. I think it's
type 'H' but don't quote me.

My 2¢

A: there should be a drain bung in the transmission pan.
B: There will be more oil within the torque convertor & valve body than what can be sucked out via the dipstick hole.

I recommend following the RTV maker's instructions for torqueing wait times. Most of them say something like finger tighten bolts immediately, while the RTV is wet, and then wait an hour to do the torque to spec, and IMO it's best to do it according to their instructions.

And it might also help if you ran a test of the stuff you're planning on using, by putting just a small bit of that RTV on the tranny pan. Then put a small piece of scrap metal on the wet RTV, and wait an hour (or the time specified by the gasket maker). Then you'll be know exactly what the consistency of the RTV will be at that point, and I'd expect you'll find it to be a fairly firm semi-solid.

The CX-5 uses Mazda type FZ fluid. Part number is:
0000-FZ-113E-01
From a good dealer parts department it’s ~$11 - $11.50 per quart. Not cheap, but not as high as most European car ATFs.

Callisto, did you buy that adapter plate or make it yourself?

. Yes. It is a slight copy using the actual adapter we use from the Transmission service machine here in the shop for replacement of complete fluid for MADZA trannies. I cut mine from aluminum and drilled and tapped larger threads for fitment of AN hose adapter for a higher flow capacity to use a remote cooler and spin on oil filter. This way I can bypass the really small water oil cooler exchanger and really just eliminate it altogether.

They do have an adapter that's for the CX-5, not sure if anyone already got their hands on it
