2013 CX 5 security indicator light

2013 CX 5 security indicator light
Hey folks
I just got a used 2013 CX 5 & from time to time the security indicator light (little car icon with lockpad) comes on and car beeps when I turn the engine off. The radio does not turn off and the car will not lock. I am worried it will drain my battery and (of course) my car is not secured. All I've been able to find online about this is when the light comes on and car won't start. I'm gonna call the guy who sold it to me tomorrow but wanted to reach out here first.
Any advice on this?

Are you 100% sure the transmission is in Park? Have you cycled the ignition/start button to see if things turn off?
I have seen faulty Smart Start Units ( start button ) before causing this problem.
