Anyone know if I can do a direct OEM 19 inch to 17 inch wheel swap without worrying about calipers? 2016 GT cx5

I did it on my 2019 GT-R and it was fine. But, that was to a 17" OEM (Mazda 6 Sport) wheel. I researched offset/backspace, etc and it worked out well. My 19" wheel was 7" wide - and the 17" is 7.5" wide - and I was still ok. Not lots of room, but still enough. Also, the 17" had 55mm of offset - also making things a bit tighter.

You mention OEM - but I'm not clear if it's describing both the 19 and the 17 - or just the 19.

Turbo CX-5s have slightly larger calipers. They will not clear 16s, but will clear 17s. All NA CX-5s will clear 16s. Personally, I'd like to go with the largest tire (that won't rub, and there's not much room to upsize) and lightest wheel I can find, my dream setup would be 235/70/16 with Enkei 16s, which are in the 14lbs per wheel range.

OEM 19 to OEM 17 should be fine but I would still check with Mazda Service.

I swapped 19" factory wheels for 17" factory wheels on a 2017 gt and the ride became more compliant. I bought another set off 2017 17" rims and snow tires but I have never put them on the vehicle. I have this 17" set with out the snow tires mounted available if you are interested. No center caps or tpms. Make me an offer. Im in Chicago. The wheels are in like new condition with no curb rash. They have never been repaired and seem to have very low miles as in less than a few thousand miles.
