Thanks for the input. I have the car booked in with the Mazda dealer on Tuesday 26 May. Have arranged to take foreman for a drive to hear the noise. Comes from the rear. Will update the forum after that inspection.
BTW only wind flutter type noise I got was after I had the Mazda OEM window weather shields installed. Windows up. So I took the front door window shields off and the noise went with them. The rear door window shields don't create the wind noise.

Default CX30 rumble noise resolved

I took my CX30 Astina to my dealer on Tuesday at 7.45am and took a service supervisor for a drive to hear the noise. I was then asked to leave the car with them and was given a CX3 courtesy car. Update from service dept on Wednesday advised me that they were still chasing the origin of the noise. Mid morning Thursday I was told they needed it for the day. They had checked internals of rear tailgate door and rear doors, seat belt retraction points etc. Thursday at 1pm they called to say they believed they had found the culprit. The sun roof track rear attachment point.
i picked the car up at 3.45pm and drove about 20kms over varying road surfaces on the way home and so far no rumble evident.

The service department report stated:
"Found rattle from sunroof sliding cover. Insulated brackets behind roof lining as required. Road tested, all OK."

Grateful for the Mazda dealer service guys perseverance.

Indeed. My dealer Rolfe Mazda in Canberra Australia is very customer focused and supports the product and customers completely.

I had exactly the same issue - rumble is a good description of how it sounds. Even something like catseyes on the road when changing lanes would create it and it was really spoiling our enjoyment of the car. I initially thought it was coming from the boot and only suspected the sunroof cover after reading the OP - thanks MazdaAL! I found I could silence the noise by placing my hand on the cover, which confirmed it. Just shows how tricky these issues can be to diagnose.

Anyway the dealer has fixed the issue with a couple of pieces of foam tape discretely placed near the track, which takes the play out of the sunroof cover. Makes a heck of a difference to the quietness of the interior and the sliding cover seems a bit less flimsy in its sliding action now. I suspect it is not the greatest of designs.

Hi Paul.
Good to know you were able to get your "rumble" removed. Indeed sounds transmit through the body and are very difficult to locat the source. There are real benefits of these forums in sharing issues and resolutions. Regards Mazda Al

It is great to hear about Mazda and the dealership making it right.

Beyond that, I need a dictionary to understand some of the other parts of this thread.

Hi Mazda cpa. Can you elaborate on the parts of the thread you are referring to. See if I can shed some light.
