Default Mazda cx3 1.5td 2017

I’m in Scotland
my Mazda cx3 1.5 red 2017 has just gone back in to the garage for warning lights that came on last week
the garage has said it needs a new rocker cover and gasket and they are waiting on parts from Mazda
is this a usual thing to need replaced in this kind of vehicle?
it is still under warranty so I won’t need to foot the bill anyway

You are not giving enough information?
You Mazda is out of the warranty unless your VIN possibly had a service that reported an issue regarding the valve cover?
Not sure why the valve cover/rocker cover would need to be replaced. The gasket/seal and possibly one other seal? The valve cover on your year was never reported anywhere are problematic. In fact it is a redesign to prevent a few earlier model issues that happened on only a few engines.
You did not post what the ECU DTC)s) that were found when they scanned you ECU. At least when you state "caution/warning lights which I translate is the check engine light there would be a few things found scanning the ECU?
Valve covers are NOT a normally stock part at an average Mazda dealership so I can understand them needing to order one.

no ypu Mazda is out of the warranty period.yd

Isuggest to post your servive recomendation and just black out your personal information.

That information is with the car so no way to get hold of it but I’m aware the Mazda warranty will no longer be valid, it’s the warranty I got from the garage when buying the car 2nd hand. I haven’t owned the car from new
the garage I bought the car from were the ones who tested it to find the fault as it’s up to them to repair it
it was just a general question to ask if this kind of fault is something to be expected over time

Well that is more complete information?

No its not and if you need to pay for a valve cover i would ask what happened to the original that caused it needing to be replaced?
As well if you are paying for other engine related service they should tell you the information retrieved from the ECU.
And an itemized list of "ALL" the parts they are replacing? Like the VVT? And if so did they actual find it to be at fault by way of information in the ECU? Or are they just guessing because the seal is leaking oil so changing random parts?

Not sure exactly what you want from your question if you don't give better information and details?
