Default 0W-20 or 5W-30 for CX-3 in Florida

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to pick everyone's brain on what type of oil weight they are using. I live in Clearwater FL, and just bought a 2019 CX-3 with 48K miles, changed the oil with 0W-20 per the manufacturer's spec but someone told me to switch to 5-W 30 in this climate for better wear protection. Has anyone done this? I understand the spec in Europe is 5-W30 for this exact engine and that the zero weight oils are for EPA compliance here.

Hi John, I live in Miami, Florida and have been using 5W-30 Supertech Syntethic for 4 years now, I bought the car used with 11K miles it now has 58K, before that I also used the same oil on my previous car. In my opinion 0W-20 is too thin for Florida.

Welcome to the forum

For where you live not an opinion on my part but FACT your choice of viscosity is better suited for your operating environment!
