Question About Fuel Types Used In Summer Months
Hey everyone, I am new to this forum & I use to be over on the former Mazda Trucking site. I see Cusser & I am sure others have rolled over to this site from the old M/T site.
I still have my old 90 b2200 truck & it still has it's original non-rebuilt engine in it with 352k miles on it, although I did have to replace the head gasket at 295k at which time I had the head re-worked.
The old engine is getting tired & pretty lax in power but heck it still runs although it doesn't get driven much these days. I have another low mileage engine to drop in it one of these days but I hate yanking the current one out (more sentimental value than anything)
I have a question for anyone out there that is running a carbureted engine. Has anyone been having any trouble with vapor lock during this worthless stinking hot weather? I know what's doing it as it's the junk ethanol fuel, and during the summer months or when it is above approx 80 - 85 degrees, I have to run straight premium (ethanol free gas), and then I do not have any problems with vapor lock.
I am just curious if anyone else has encountered this problem. Thanks

I've had a genuine Redline Weber in my 1988 B2200 since 2005, and I've never had any vapor lock. Mechanical fuel pump, AC, and engine rebuilt in 2020. I have 5-speed truck but a 2-row all-aluminum radiator, installed in 2011. I use regular gasoline, like 10 to 15% ethanol here.
I'm up in Washington, temps are 75 - 85F right about now, except for the occasional rain that comes through. I as well have a '90 B2200, with a genuine Weber and mechanical fuel pump, no a/c though. I have not come across vapor lock issues, with ethanol gas its around 10% up where I'm at. However with that stated, I have noticed my truck being a bit sluggish in this hot weather with ethanol pump gas. Non ethanol gas, my truck runs like a top.
