Default newby with a B2000

I just bought my son an 86 B2000. 4cyl, 5spd. Is this a Mazda motor or Mitsu motor? I'll need to rebuild the bottom end and need to know where to start. Thanks.

It's a Mazda engine. The only Mitsubishi engine Mazda ever used was the 87 B2600 and most of those got crushed or burned to the ground.

its definatly a mazda engine. mrbitchy stole it for a year or two. it didn't work out though but its a real good choice in an engine. I have a 92 b2200 and didn't have to do anything to it. i got it for 453 dollars. just replaced the engine and then started the performance work. Cherry bomb turbo, weber 32/36 carb, accel coil, and pacesetter headers. Running around 115 hp. it started out with 85. Just buy a new engine for around 2000 bucks. It's worth it in the long run...
