Default Mazda B2200, Valve Ticking

I have 1993 b2200 aut ext cab with 90,769 miles , She has a ticking noise and gets really loud, then quiet and then back again. There is no performance loss or anything just that loud irritating tick, tick, TICK!!

I always use 10W-30! Do I need to change to 10W-40? If I flush my engine that will help?

need advice on how to fix it.

Thank you

I just got a 88 B2200 and the engine has a very noisy valve tick. I happened to read on the net about the stock lifters having too small an orifice to allow oil to fill the lifter.
Long story short , I bought a set of lifters, put them in, and the ticking went away.
This truck has 278,000 Kms on it.

Maybe check this out!

Thanks for your advice. I take 1 qt of oil and put 16oz of Marvel Mystery Oil and leave it for 25 minutes. then I changed the oil for Castrol 10W-30 and I didn't heard the noise again. I let you know guys If I heard the ticking again!

A lot of times this is caused by a high detergent oil being used in a vehicle that generally was run on a lower detergent oil, you shouldn't have any problem after using the mystery oil, but if it returns try using STP oil treatment, if still no luck go to a less detergent oil like Havoline or something and stay away from oils like Quakerstate, etc.

i stopped my valve noise by using a good quality oil filter with a check valve in it to prevent the oil from draining off the top of the motor. also used 5w30. 10 w may be to heavy in cold weather. i use a quick change oil place and they provide cheap filters. if i don't provide a good filter for the auto parts store, i get the ticking noise everytime.

Hi there

How hard is it to change lifters in these trucks? Mine has a really bad lifter tick when you first start it, that goes away really quick and I'd like to fix it. 93 B2200
