1990 B2200 2wd manual. Intermittent no key power to dash and no start. When the problem occurs there will be no warning lights on dash and no crank. Door buzzer still works but nothing else. Get out and pop hood. Fiddle around with main fuse box by battery and try again. Dash warning lights are back but then try to start and everything goes out again. Wait awhile and repeat. Fires right up… once it starts no issues driving. My hunch is the ignition switch itself but not sure if it could be some kind of relay or something else.
Test the electrical part of the ignition switch NEXT TIME THIS SITUATION OCCURS !!!
Wouldn't hurt to clean/polish all the fuse connections in the engine fuse box either !
I have the plastic off the column so I can check it next time. I don’t know exactly what to check. Which wires should have power or not at whichever position the key is in. I do plan to go through engine fuse box on Friday together with my son. (His first truck) and hopefully we can replicate the issue. The last thing he needs is to stall it in traffic and have this happen. Lol!

Alrighty. So it did it’s little trick again and I had a test light with me. No power to ignition switch at all. So that rules out the switch. Had my son wiggle the main fuse box next to the battery and power came back to the switch. Tried to start and went out again. We did this several times and he said when he wiggled the relay that is bolted to the fuse box bracket is when it came back on every time. Ran out of time tonight but will check main circuit and that relay tomorrow. Forward progress.

Sounds like on the right track ! You've done the toughest part.
It’s fixed! We replaced the 80 amp fuse and cleaned up all of the connections to the main fuse box and battery. Haven’t had a problem since. Now we can look forward to rejuvenating the old truck. Picture below is his motivational goal. We have a slew of parts coming to get it ready for paint. Going with a silver or gray color instead of the white one pictured. Should be a lot of fun father son time. Thank you (Cusser) for steering us in the right direction. We’ll update as we go along.
We would like to delete all of the chrome trim. Most of it looks pretty self explanatory. The windshield trim is the part in question. We have the cowl cover off and see there are some screws holding the lower portion on. Does the rest just pull off or is it part of the seal?
