Default RE: Headlights

I'll assume that you've already checked the headlights themselves; these are dual-filament low/high sealed beams. Your running lights and your headlights are on different circuits; each has its own 30 Amp fuse. First check the headlight fuse: it's the rearmost of the three fuses, under a cover just rearward of the battery negative terminal (you can do all this with the ignition key off).Be aware that ifthis has blown, something has made it blow; anyway, if it's bad, I'd replace that and see if it works. If that blows, then you have a short. If the fuse is OK, use your circuit tester light ($5) or voltmeter (digital multimeter on sale at Sears for $10 Friday morning, I have two) and make sure that voltage is leaving that fuse. If OK, then remove covers just forward of the steering wheel, and check voltage of the RED wire. If OK,rotate headlight switch on and check voltage in RB wire for low beams (red with black stripe) when selected and RW wire forhigh beams (red with white stripe) when switch pushed all the way forward. If you get voltage there, then you've isolated it to wires, connectors, sockets, or bulbs for the headlights. The RW wire also tees off to the blue light in the dash above the temperature gauge.
