Capacitor 86 b2000
Wire broke off doing distributor install everything is getting 12v wondering if the condenser / capacitor is causing the no spark issue . Not really sure how useful it is .
No, the capacitor on the distributor is for radio signal interference only......it has nothing to do with the ignition spark. If you have no spark, check the coil, the distributor module, etc.
Checked it all , getting 12 volt to everything and tested coil for resistance it seemed in spec , changed the ignition module , maybe the pick up coil in the distributor is bad or something. I might just get rid of it it’s stuck in Jacksonville and I have to go back to Atlanta . Sad but the Mazda community has been so helpful thank you.
It’s dinky as hell it quit on us coming down from Atlanta . You welcomed to come look at it . Let me know if you are interested in buying it or potentially help us get it running . I already put it on marketplace.
As others have stated, cuts down on static for radio, primarily AM reception.
If you really want to add this: Mazda number is S101-66-991
or aftermarket:Condenser/capacitor static reducer for distributor: ECH RC111 or fa83 or p13045 from NAPAhttps://www.napaonline.com/en/p/ECHRC111 Search "radio capacitor" at NAPA
