Default Bypassing the ECM on 1987 B2600

I was wondering if anyone has ever bypassed their ECM? I just replaced my carb with a weber 32/36, took out all the vaccum lines and etc, replaced ignition coil, distributor cap, rotor, and fuel pump.

Any how from what I read the ecm is pretty much there to control emmissions, and a little to do with gas and spark.

Now If i disconnect the wire that runs from coil to ecm, disconnect fuel pump control unit, and install relay straight to fuel pump connected to 12 v and some sort of switch. Yall think it would work? Give me your 2 cent. I think my ecm is gone.

Since you replaced your carb, ECU is of little use now, doesn't control anything with fuel, emissions now. However, I read somewhere where if you physically unplug and remove the ECU, you may need to re-wire to the windshield wipers (maybe that's where their intermittent action comes from).
